Adding an owner
Step 6 of the setup checklist. An owner unlocks owner statements, distributions and the owner portal — nothing about who owns what is inferred; you record it explicitly here.

Adding one
From Owners → Add Owner, enter their name, email, phone (with an optional extension) and mailing address. Choose the owner type:
- Individual — a single person who owns the property directly.
- Entity (has members) — an LLC, trust, partnership or corporation. Pick the entity type and enter its legal name; you can add members with a percentage share once the owner is saved, and each member with portal access can see an informational share of the entity's financials without the entity's own statements or distributions changing.
Tax ID feeds 1099 reporting, and “Enable owner portal” turns on the option to invite them — you can also turn this on later from the owner's own profile.
Connecting an owner to a property
Adding an owner here doesn't by itself attach them to anything — the ownership link (which property, what percentage, what management fee) is set from the property's own Ownership tab. An owner can be linked to more than one property, and a property can have more than one owner.
Common questions
Can the same person own more than one LLC in the portfolio? Yes — the same email address can be used across multiple owner records, since the same person often owns several distinct entities.
What does an entity member actually see in the portal? Their share of the entity's financials — statements and distributions × their percentage — labeled as an informational share. The entity's own statements, distributions and 1099s are unaffected by adding members.
How do they access the owner portal? From the Owners list, send a portal invitation the same way you would for a tenant or vendor — the list shows whether access is enabled and how recently they've logged in. See Getting started and the Owner portal guide.
